ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RIDE
Scorching heat and a risk of thunderstorms didn’t deter a dedicated group of members from gathering at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville for Stephen’s Ride for Humanity on September 7.
The annual cycling event featured an open ride on the four-kilometre track that included a pit stop where members could rest and recharge.
All riders were equipped with electronic tracking chips, making it possible to tracks lap times. Robert Lethbridge was recognized with the best average lap time among male riders for completing 15 laps in 128 minutes. Bonnie Richmond received the accolade among female riders for finishing in 10 laps in 105 minutes.
The event featured a team relay competition which saw six teams of four riders compete for top honours. Teams circled the track one rider at a time with the winner determined by the fastest combined lap time.
RAW Racers came out on top with a total lap time of 25 minutes and 30 seconds. They were followed by the Sorbara Speedsters who came in at 26 minutes and 32 seconds. Member Power, a team of individuals from various member companies, won third place with a 28 minute and 21 second combined lap time.
All timing results can be seen by visiting www.racetiming.ca and selecting Stephen’s Ride for Humanity.
Thank you to everyone who came out to ride, and to all the sponsors for your support. The event raised thousands of dollars for BILD’s community partner Habitat for Humanity GTA.
