The Province’s fair housing plan, introduced in April, has had little real effect on the new home market in the GTA. Prices continue to increase and supply, especially for single-family low-rise homes, continues to be low.
Now that the Province has increased intensification and density targets in the GTA and plans to replace the Ontario Municipal Board with a Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, it’s more important than ever that municipalities update their zoning by-laws.

While we are glad that the Ontario government has finally taken some action on our housing crisis in the GTA, something we have been urging for many months, it is unfortunate that they are not doing enough to address the underlying causes of our housing supply problems.
