Greater Toronto, May 22, 2013 – An extensive report advocating for an Ontario Building Code change that will result in the construction of safe, affordable homes for residents across the GTA was released earlier today by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD), the Residential Construction Council of Ontario (RESCON) and the Canadian Wood Council.
Following the lead of a number of our members, BILD has entered into a partnership with the Toronto District School Board via a Construction Trades Exploration Program – a high-school co-operative education program that provides students interested in the construction industry with the opportunity to acquire valuable industry experience.
As the voice of the home building, land development and professional renovation industry and its consumers in the GTA, BILD has put together a list of 15 recommendations for Metrolinx as the agency moves forward with its investment strategy and its shortlist of revenue tools to fund its regional transportation plan.

Last Friday BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey was invited by George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies to help break ground on their new Green Building Centre. It is the first facility of its kind and the applied research that will take place there will bridge the gap between industry and innovation.
